Sunrise Services is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to join the 16-bed Enhanced Services Facility!

The Enhanced Services Facility (ESF) Community Engagement Specialist (CES) will aid in community integration for all ESF residents. The CES will help developing activities to provide opportunities to develop relationships, life skills and community engagement. The CES will also provide transportation to and from medical appointments and other necessary community activities. These duties will be done under the supervision of the ESF administrator, Registered Nurse or shift lead.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Support and assistance is provided in areas including, but not limited to, the following:

A. Integration into the physical and social life of the community: A large part of the role of the CES is to integrate residents back into society. Many residents have been hospitalized for a long period of time and may need assistance in promoting life skills and developing social skills.

The CES will support residents in:

Using available public transportation.

  • Shopping, banking, working, transportation to worship and making friends within the community.

Meeting with others and participate in activities with other members of the community.

B. Transportation

The CES will provide transportation to all ESF residents. Driving residents will be via agency owned or personal vehicle to / from medical / therapy appointments, grocery shopping and community activities. All medical appointments will be schedules by the nursing department.

C. Developing relationships:

Encourage residents to seek out and develop appropriate relationships by providing opportunities to interact with others.

D. Promoting competence and self-reliance:

Promote the resident's sense of personal competence and self-reliance by teaching and modeling skills useful to the resident in areas such as:

Budgeting and money management

Keeping track of daily and weekly schedules

Planning leisure time activities

Relationships; communication and conflict resolution

Promote client health & safety, power & choice, and positive recognition by self and others.

Wage:

  • $20.77 - $22.03/hour
  • All wages depend on applicable experience, license, and education.

Schedule:

  • We are hiring 2 staff to cover the available shifts:
  • Friday 11pm - 7am, Saturday 11pm - 7am, Sunday 7am - 3pm & Sunday 3pm - 11pm

Requirements:

  • Must have High school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years of age.
  • First aid and CPR certification is required
  • DSHS background clearance required
  • Home Care Aid Certification or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and various other educational classes are required following hiring and at different intervals during employment. This includes current license with the state of Washington.
  • Therapeutic Options" training
  • Prefer at least one year of experience working with people with mental / behavioral health / chemical dependency / criminal justice system issues / or experience working in similar industries.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), listening, organization, documentation and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow work related documents and requirements (e.g. policies; resident plans; etc.)
  • Creativity, flexibility, dependability, positive attitude, and sensitivity to diverse population.
  • Ability to organize work, time, and priorities to meet resident needs.
  • Ability to role model, maintain professional boundaries, and establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with others (both within and outside the company).
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate or use basic home appliances such as vacuum, microwave, dishwasher, etc. and household tools such as mop and broom.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions for preparation of menu items for resident meals;

  • Ability to lift approximately 20-30 pounds and physically assist unsteady residents
  • Two step TB skin test is required unless proof of two step TB skin test is provided then one step TB skin test would be required unless exempt.
