    SUPERVISES N/A

    POSITION Community Engagement Manager

Riverton Community Housing seeks a versatile, relationship-centered leader who connects cooperative members and boards,

Riverton staff, and community partners. This person strengthens democratic governance, develops resident leaders, builds an

inclusive sense of community, and represents the value of cooperative housing within and beyond Riverton.

The Community Engagement Manager combines a strong commitment to resident empowerment with sound judgment about

financial, legal, property-management, and organizational realities. The role supports member-elected boards in making

informed decisions—not making decisions for them—and helps translate ideas into workable plans, shared accountability, and

results. Successful candidates bring initiative, emotional intelligence, adaptability, discretion, and follow-through; they enjoy

both strategic collaboration and hands-on work.

The role is accountable for four connected outcomes: effective and inclusive co-op boards; engaged members with growing

leadership skills; productive relationships across the Riverton community; and greater understanding of cooperative housing and

its broader community value to grow and expand the work.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Co-op Governance and Board Development

    • Build trust-based relationships with co-op members, elected boards, committees, Riverton management, and property staff;

serve as a reliable liaison across these groups.

    • Coach boards on Riverton’s mission, cooperative principles, governing documents, board roles, democratic decision

making, and responsible business and property-management practices.

    • Attend co-op membership, board, and committee meetings; provide timely information, capture discussions and decisions,

and prepare useful written summaries for Riverton staff.

    • Support recruitment, orientation, and development of board members who reflect or effectively serve the diverse

membership. Use member outreach, questionnaires, and other approaches to identify prospective leaders.

    • With Community Managers, coordinate new-member orientation, officer and board training, retreats, workshops,

recognition, retention events and other development opportunities.

    • Help boards identify issues, develop policies and guidelines for buildings and grounds, create action plans, monitor follow

    through, and evaluate results.

    • Support accurate, current cooperative corporate records, including articles of incorporation, bylaws, minutes, and policy and

operations handbooks; identify support and resource needs for boards. Ensure Riverton has up to date records for each co

    op.

    2. Member Leadership and Community Engagement

    • Mentor and educate residents in facilitation, problem-solving, conflict navigation, shared leadership, and constructive

    participation across differences.

    • Partner with boards and staff to develop accessible activities and communications; maintain bulletin boards, digital displays,

social media, and information on governance, policies, and cooperative history.

    • Assist boards in creating and promoting social gatherings and community-building activities, such as gardening, movie

nights, and barbecues; participate when appropriate.

    • Coordinate member participation, registration, travel, and accommodations for training opportunities.

    • Lead collaborative member-engagement and retention efforts with Community Managers, organizational leadership, and

consultants with goal of building stronger community and retaining members year after year.
