The Community Engagement Manager is an administrative professional responsible foradvancing Cal-Wood Education Center’s mission through strategic community partnerships,program planning, and operational oversight of family and community-based outdoor programs.The primary duty of this position is the performance of non-manual work directly related to themanagement and general business operations of Cal-Wood’s community engagement andfamily programming.This role regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance,including partnership development, program expansion, budget management, staffingcoordination, and strategic growth initiatives. The Coordinator works collaboratively with theDirector of Programs to plan and implement mission-driven growth while ensuring programs areoperationally sound, financially responsible, and aligned with organizational priorities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunity Partnership Development and Strategic Engagement (PrimaryDuty) Independently develop, evaluate, and maintain strategic partnerships with communityorganizations, schools, and family-serving agencies that align with Cal-Wood’s missionand program goals. Exercise discretion in identifying new partnership opportunities and determiningappropriate outreach strategies to expand equitable access to outdoor programming. Serve as an organizational representative to community partners, families, andstakeholders, managing relationships that impact program reach, reputation, andsustainability. Plan and lead community engagement initiatives and outreach strategies, includingdevelopment of communication channels and engagement plans. Attend partner events and meetings as needed to strengthen relationships and advanceprogram objectives. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure community engagement efforts alignwith organizational messaging, branding, and strategic priorities. Draft, review, and manage website content related to community and familyprogramming; coordinate with communications staff on promotional materials andoutreach campaigns.Program Planning, Development, and Oversight Lead the planning, design, and evaluation of family and community programs, exercisingjudgment to ensure offerings meet community needs, organizational goals, andoperational capacity. Assess program performance and identify opportunities for growth, refinement, orexpansion. Develop program structures, schedules, and logistical plans that support safe, effective,and mission-aligned program delivery. Oversee program logistics and resource planning, including coordination of equipment,materials, food, and facilities. Provide on-site administrative oversight during programs to monitor quality, participantexperience, and operational effectiveness. Serve as an on-call decision-maker for program-related emergencies during designatedprograms.Administrative Operations and Financial Management Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets, exercising discretion to ensure fiscallyresponsible operations. Prepare financial, narrative, and programmatic reports for internal leadership, funders,and partners as required. Draft, review, and manage contracts and partnership agreements in coordination withinternal stakeholders. Track program expenses and analyze financial data to inform planning and resourceallocation decisions. Ensure administrative systems and documentation support compliance, reporting, andoperational needs.Staff Coordination, Scheduling, and Program Support Participate in the recruitment, screening, and selection of instructors and program staff;provide hiring recommendations that are given weight by leadership. Coordinate instructor scheduling and staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage andefficient use of resources. Lead instructor onboarding and training related to program goals, safety standards, andorganizational expectations. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to support instructional qualityand professional development. Oversee instructor payroll processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness, in coordinationwith internal systems.Organizational Collaboration and Representation Support school programs as needed by providing administrative coordination, familycommunication, and limited on-site support. Represent Cal-Wood Education Center at conferences, community meetings, outreachevents, and professional gatherings. Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning initiatives related to communityengagement, family programming, and organizational growth.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on matters ofsignificance. Strong relationship-building, communication, and public speaking skills. Ability to manage complex administrative responsibilities with minimal supervision. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in digital communication platforms and standard office software. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in science, natural resources management, education, environmentaleducation, nonprofit management, or a related field required. Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in environmental education,outdoor recreation, community engagement, or nonprofit program administration. Experience working with diverse communities and advancing equitable access toprograms. Ability to work evenings and weekends, including on-site presence at theCal-Wood Education Center near Jamestown, Colorado during peak seasons (April - September). Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain; Wilderness First Aid (WFA) orWilderness First Responder (WFR) certification preferred.
