Position Summary

The Community Employment Specialist connects people with disabilities with community-based,

competitive employment. Working in the community, this person assesses skills, builds job seeker

competencies, establishes relationships with businesses, and gives individuals the tools and

support needed to be successful.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist job seekers with disabilities secure competitive integrated employment through job finding or job development.
• Facilitate work assessments or job trials to evaluate a job seeker's interests and abilities.
• Provide job shadowing opportunities for job seekers to explore employment options.
• Help people discover job opportunities.
• Provide job coaching and support.
• Promote sustainable competitive-integrated employment by building and maintaining strong relationships with employers.
• Promote the inclusion of Achieva's employment supports and services to employers.
