Description

Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Community Education Instructor for Health and Fitness. This is a part-time faculty, non-union, term-by-term, non-exempt, and non-benefits-eligible position. We are interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and candidates that may be from a less traditional background. This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. Should a review of your application result in the intent to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted by phone or email for an interview.

This position is a partnership between CCC and local Clackamas community partners. These community partners are located throughout the county. Instructor contract is based on the hours of each class and varies term by term.

Help students stay strong and healthy by facilitating an exercise class that contributes to a range of fitness programs that have something for everyone. From strength training with weights to cardio through lively dance session. Please share your interest and expertise. We use the level system for our students self-identification of skill.

  • Level 1 - Chair Fitness (Need Support)
  • For people who may have physical limitations. A chair is provided to sit/stand next to for balance.
  • Level 2 - Beginners (Just Getting Started)
  • For people without physical limitations or who have not exercised for a long time. Classes are basic, gentle and go at a slower pace.
  • Level 3 - Intermediate (Regularly Active)
  • This is for people who do moderate exercises at least twice a week and can do floor work.
  • Level 4 - Advanced (Athlete)
  • These classes are for people who are physically active almost daily and are looking for higher-intensity and more challenging workouts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students for each course.

  • Present the course content in a professional and suitable manner.

  • Convene classes on time and as scheduled.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Clackamas Community College Community Education staff.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and directly with Clackamas Community College Community Education staff on any site concerns or changes in schedule.

  • Understands and abides by college policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the college, departments or divisions.

  • Desire to work with a diverse student population.

AUXILIARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Exercise independent judgment in altering class material to adequately meet the needs of the students.

  • All positions at CCC are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college and requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
  • Those offered employment will be required to complete and sign forms before initiating the background check step.
  • CCC employees must reside within 50 miles of Oregon City, Harmony or Wilsonville campus as a condition of employment.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States must be provided if selected for hire.
