    ADOPTED: 5-19-2020 AMENDED: 03-26-2025 SOCORRO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Department of Human Resources JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Community Education Clerk Pay Grade : 303 Reports To: Director of Community Education Terms of Employment : 226 Days Exemption Status : Non-Exempt Funding Source: Adult Education and Literacy Grant Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support for the Department of Community Education . The position is funded by the Adult Education and Literacy Grant awarded to the Far West Education Consortium by the Texas Workforce Commission. Qualifications : Education/Certification: • High school diploma/equivalent or higher Special Knowledge/Skills: • Demonstrate clerical skills and type 40 words per minute • Possess basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel , Outlook, etc) • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish with district employees , students and general public Experience: • Minimum of one -year verifiable data entry of related office experience Major Responsibilities and Duties : 1. Performs clerical tasks and office routines related to community education classes. 2. Places and receives telephone calls and records messages. 3. Maintains a regular filing system, ensur ing confidentiality as required by the program or district guidelines. 4. Enters data into the Texas Educating Adults Management System , checking for data integrity and accuracy . 5. Assists with recruiting, registering, and verifying eligibility of the students in the adult education program. 6. Creates and maintains spreadsheets to track new and updated student information. 7. Develops a system to track and document intersession and summer activities for students in the adult education program . 8. Provides data to staff for monitoring participants' progress . 9. Assists in following up with students to support their attainment of GED certificates, employment and/or post-secondary goals . 10. Assumes the responsibilities of the administrative assistant in the event of their absence. 11. Maintains a schedule of appointments and arranges conferences and interviews as specified by the director or assistant director . ADOPTED: 5-19-2020 AMENDED: 03-26-2025 Community Education Clerk 12. Assists with using formal and informal means to assist with the evaluation of the District's community education needs and priorities. 13. Monitors data in the Texas Educating Adults Management System to track the District's community education performance. 14. Plans for and engages in professional development. 15. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the SISD safety program. 16. Support s the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies. 17. Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations. 18. Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor. 19. Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders of the district. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Prolonged use of computer ; work with frequent interruptions ; work a flexible sc hedule to meet the needs of the program .
