The Job
San Bernardino County is recruiting for a Community Development & Housing (CDH) Technician* who will be responsible for performing technical duties in support of a program or functional area within the Community Development and Housing (CDH) Department. Technicians conduct research, review, and organize data; prepare reports and documents; develop and maintain contract files, project files and databases; and provide program support and assistance to Community Development and Housing staff.

The Community Development and Housing (CDH) Department seeks quality of life for the residents of San Bernardino County by providing community and housing development resources for low and moderate income families, individuals and communities. CDH invests several Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and State grants to undertake needed infrastructure projects and services for targeted communities. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and job-related physical exam, including drug testing, prior to appointment.
Travel: Travel throughout the county may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. Mileage reimbursement may be available.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following education and experience requirements:
EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, economics, finance, real estate, urban development, construction management, or a closely related field. Transcripts MUST be submitted with the application if the applicant does not possess a completed associates degree (or higher) in one of the qualifying fields of study.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience with primary responsibility for interpreting, applying, and explaining governmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to fiscal processes, grant management, or HUD regulations.
Note: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess experience working specifically in Community Development and Housing activities and /or directly with federal or state grant programs. The preferred candidate will also have extensive experience in Microsoft Office Suite, such as creating auto-text in Word; creating macros in Word, Excel or Access; using complex formulas and PivotTables in Excel; and creating PowerPoint presentations for publication on the web. Knowledge of and experience with IT, GIS, and data research and analysis is also highly desired.
