Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor, the Community College Specialist (CC Specialist) serves as a statewide subject-matter lead for Academic Affairs programs, policy, and implementation-providing strategic leadership, coordination, consultation, and technical assistance. The position supports a broad portfolio including curriculum, instructional innovation, equity initiatives, partnerships, and systemwide Academic Affairs priorities, while contributing to special projects as assigned.

The incumbent shall lead the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of complex statewide programs, initiatives, grants, and contracts; refine implementation strategies and ensure alignment across systemwide activities. The CC Specialist ensures accuracy and consistency of curriculum, fiscal, policy, and compliance information; analyze legislation and regulations; assess impacts; and advise leadership on risks, equity considerations, and systemwide implications. The incumbent engages with program stakeholders and provides technical assistance, including providing authoritative guidance and consultation to colleges, districts, partners, and internal staff through communications, training, governance processes, and field-facing activities.

Special Requirements

The Statement of Qualification (SOQ) is a narrative discussion of how your education, training, experience, and skills meet the minimum and desirable qualifications and qualify you for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. The SOQ must be no more than a maximum of two pages typed, single-spaced, in 12 pt. Arial font.

Indicate your name, the position number and "Statement of Qualifications" at the top of the page. The SOQ must be organized and numbered in the order of the desirable qualifications.

Strategic Project Planning & Execution

  1. How has your professional experience prepared you to independently plan and execute complex statewide or multi-site projects within the CCCCO, while ensuring outcomes align with executive goals?

Response must include a specific example of a high-impact project you managed from start to finish. Highlight how you assessed needs, established operational timelines, and delivered measurable results that positioned executive leadership to demonstrate systemwide success.

Academic Affairs Coordination & Governance

  1. How has your professional experience prepared you to lead and coordinate complex systemwide initiatives within Academic Affairs that support executive priorities and advance the goals of Vision 2030?

Response must share a specific example of how you moved a complex initiative forward through a governance or decision-making process. Highlight how you used effective communication to collaborate with diverse constituencies, center teamwork, navigate differing perspectives, and keep executive leadership informed and positioned for success.

  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams, units, and external partners.
  • Professional experience researching, drafting, designing and copy-editing high-level executive documents and presentations.
  • Ability and/or experience applying analytical skills to evaluate complex information, identify issues, and develop sound recommendations.
  • Current or past experience advising executive leadership on program, policy, and operational priorities.
  • Experience utilizing project management tools, methodologies, processes, and AI-enabled technologies to track progress, manage competing priorities, identify risks, and ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
