Description

Summary

Under general supervision primarily provides planning, transportation, and assistance to youth programs. Reports to the transitional coordinator and the administrative assistant of juvenile probation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high school equivalency tutorials to youth.
  • Provides job readiness instructional training to youth.
  • Compiles data on youth progress.
  • Assist youth in college preparation, including financial aid and applications.
  • Assist in design and instructional materials for classroom.
  • Substitutes for instruction when needed.
  • Work with clients on best testing procedures.
  • Provides safe and prompt transportation of juvenile probation clients to programs.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with department safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs daily vehicle inspection prior to use.
  • Responsible for keeping gas in the vehicle at a safe level.
  • Reports vehicle safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible.
  • Reports vehicle inspection deadlines.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate, experience working with youth preferred.

Other Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must be eligible to be certified as a Community Activities Officer (CAO) by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Must hold a valid Texas driver license and liability insurance coverage. Driving record must reflect acceptable rating by Hays County to operate a county vehicle.
