Pay Range: USD $44,050.00 - USD $85,780.00 /Yr. Overview:

The Auburn University Library is seeking a Communications & Marketing Department Specialistto develop and implement strategic communications and marketing initiatives that advance the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Auburn University Libraries. This position is responsible for creating high-quality communications, marketing, and promotional materials that increase awareness of library resources, services, programs, and events while supporting instruction, research, outreach, engagement, and philanthropic activities. In addition to content creation, this position will develop and execute marketing strategies, manage communication campaigns, coordinate messaging across multiple platforms, maintain brand consistency, and collaborate with library departments and campus partners to effectively promote library initiatives. 

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and executes marketing and communication plans that promote the Libraries’ initiatives, services, programs and achievements. Writes and edits clear, engaging content for newsletters, press releases, brochures, signage, and digital platforms while maintaining a consistent tone and message.
  • Researches, designs, and produces content for internal and external publications, brochures, posters, newsletters, websites, presentations, fundraising materials, and broadcast media.
  • Designs and produces print and digital promotional materials, including flyers, postcards, posters, and multi-page publications such as the Annual Report and Impact Report. Responsibilities include content editing, layout design, printing coordination, photography, and copywriting.
  • Maintains the Libraries’ digital signage and social media channels with timely updates, creative campaigns, and promotional items aligned with institutional branding.
  • Coordinates and submits materials to journals, associations, and external media outlets, both proactively and in response to requests. Maintains organized files, databases, and electronic records.
  • Serves as the Libraries’ major contact with AU OCM and other communication personnel.
  • Assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of communications, public relations efforts, and marketing strategies supporting Library services.
  • Provides support to the administrative team and performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum

 

Level I:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field.

Level II:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field and 2 years of experience in marketing and communications services to include print journalism.

Level III:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field and 4 years of experience in marketing and communications services to include print journalism.

Substitutions Allowed for Experience:

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

 

Additional Application Requirements

  • Candidates must attach sample work demonstrating previous communications, design, or marketing experience.
  • Short‑listed candidates will be asked to prepare and deliver a presentation to Auburn University Libraries staff as part of the interview process.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project‑management abilities
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • Experience in storytelling across multiple mediums, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and InDesign
  • Experience creating marketing materials and advertising for programs and events
