    Position Summary

    The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in sharing BayCare's story with team members and the community. As part of a collaborative and adaptable communications team, this position supports communication strategies for hospitals, service lines, the physician enterprise, and system-wide initiatives.

    Responsibilities include developing and coordinating content for press releases, team member communications, executive announcements, social media, reports, meetings, and events. This role partners with BayCare leaders, internal stakeholders, and subject matter experts to gather information and create clear, engaging communications for both internal and external audiences.

    The Communications Coordinator also supports media relations activities, including message preparation, media interactions, and spokesperson support. Additional responsibilities include fact-checking content, securing approvals, supporting issue management efforts, monitoring communication metrics, and participating in a rotating 24-hour on-call media relations schedule.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field
    • Minimum three (3) years of communications, journalism, public relations, corporate communications, or agency experience
    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
    • Experience with media relations
    • Photography and videography skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

    Preferred:

    • Healthcare communications experience
    • Accredited in Public Relations (APR) certification

    Position Details

    • Location: Polk County Region
    • Status: Full Time, Exempt
    • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
    • Remote Status: Hybrid
    • Weekend Requirement: Occasional
    • On-Call Requirement: Yes
