Overview

The Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Communications Coordinator with a strong skillset in graphic design, branding, and content creation!

In this role, you will lead creative direction, visual identity, and implementation of the departments external communications, social media, and signage. You will serve as the primary visual content developer - producing professional graphic assets (both digital and print), and social media content while also supporting media relations, public engagement, and department programs to visually champion our core mission.

Responsibilities

What youll be doing:

• Act as the Departments graphic designer:
• Design, produce, and manage high-quality print and digital content and materials, including brochures/flyers/reports, social media graphics, signage, infographics, and educational materials.
• Coordinates public communication through appropriate channels, including the Department website, social media platforms, and other content management systems (Mailchimp, Public Input, COTREX).
• Coordinates, scripts, and produces video or photography, as needed.
• Prepares and produces the Departments annual report and board quarterly updates.
• Serves as media contact for the Department.
• Prepares and distributes press releases. Fields requests from the media (print, television, radio) and acts as department spokesperson where appropriate.
• Member of the Departments emergency communication response team and implements associated communication alerts.
• Gathers and analyzes data related to assigned communication projects, conducts research, prepares reports, and provides recommendations.

What were looking for:

• Advanced project manager with ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with consciousness of deadlines and multiple priorities.
• Experienced graphic designer with ability to create multiple formats and mediums. Skilled in design of effective marketing materials, web/print graphics, signage, and video.
• Experienced in managing an organization's website and social media channels from content creation to publishing.
• Highly proactive and organized; ability to track multiple work projects, deadlines, and adapt to a changing environment.
• Working knowledge of accessible style/standards, website accessibility standards and protocols.
• Adept at routine software and content management systems including, but not limited to, word processing, web and graphic design, presentation software, and social media.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
• Regular, predictable attendance; General office practices and procedures.
• Read and comprehend Department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.

• Three (3) years experience working with design programs, such as Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or in public engagement and outreach work required.
• Four (4) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or a related field required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
• Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required.

The typical schedule for this position is Monday- Friday 8 am - 4:30pm.
