Description: Coordinates communications activities in support of a university program, including, but not limited to, publications, newsletters, annual reports, web site, and informational and solicitation materials.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates various communications projects, to include compiling, editing, and layout of materials.
  2. Works with other departments to research, obtain material and organize the content of written communications.
  3. Provides content for regular updates of the program web site.
  4. May be responsible for producing regularly recurring communications such as annual reports, monthly publications or newsletters.
  5. Provides writing and editing services for other communication projects as assigned.
  6. Represents the program at conferences and community events.
  7. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Description: Coordinates communications activities in support of a university program, including, but not limited to, multimedia platforms, publications, newsletters, annual reports, and informational and solicitation materials.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates various communications projects, may include compiling, editing, layout of materials, production of video-related and voiced content.
  2. Researches, interviews, writes and produces multimedia content.
  3. Reports, shoots and edits stories in order to provide content for department's varied platforms.
  4. May be responsible for producing regularly recurring communications such as annual reports, monthly publications or newsletters.
  5. Provides writing and editing services for other communication projects as assigned.
  6. Represents the program at conferences and community events.
  7. Produces daily content on a variety of platforms including the internet, social networking sites and mobile phones.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Additional Information/Preferred Qualifications

The communications coordinator supports the College's storytelling and day-to-day communications across digital, print and multimedia platforms. The responsibilities listed below are ordered to reflect the departments primary needs. This position is ideal for a creative, organized and service-oriented communicator who values accuracy, collaboration and audience experience.

Writing & Editing

• Edits College content across platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, reports and marketing materials, in accordance with AP style and College editorial standards. • Writes original content tailored to specific audiences and platforms. • Exercises editorial judgment to maintain consistency in tone, voice and style. • Fact-checks information and coordinates content reviews with faculty and staff when appropriate.

Social Media

• Selects, edits or creates visual assets to support posts. • Monitors engagement and responds appropriately. • Tracks performance and identifies trends to inform content strategy.

Photography & Video

• Captures photography and video at College events and activities, which may occasionally take place during evenings or weekends. • Conducts basic interviews for storytelling and promotional content. • Edits and organizes visual assets for College use. • Maintains photography and video equipment.

Graphic Design & Visual Content

• Creates original graphic content for print and digital use that aligns with University and College brand standards. • Designs materials that communicate messages clearly and visually. • Prepares files for print, digital publication or vendor production. • Coordinates with vendors as needed for design and production support.

Website

• Updates and maintains College websites using a content management system. • Reviews web content for accuracy and relevance.

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities

• Manages multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Communicates clearly and professionally with faculty, staff and partners. • Maintains organized digital files and project documentation. • Brings forward creative ideas that support College priorities. • Represents the College at events and community engagements as needed.

Preferred Experience

• Experience managing social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and X. • Experience in a variety of multimedia applications, including but not limited to web content management systems (Modern Campus), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, etc.) and Canva.

Experience in higher education, hospitality, marketing or communications is preferred but not required.

Experience will be considered in lieu of education.

Education will be considered in lieu of experience.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
