Position Description
This is a non-civil service position announcement. The Communications & Engagement Senior Coordinator supports the Choose How You Move (CHYM) program by providing integrated communications, engagement, and operational support. This role develops and maintains high-quality public-facing materials, supports digital content updates, coordinates meetings and events, and ensures consistent, accurate messaging across platforms. Candidates must demonstrate strong writing ability, organizational and administrative skills, attention to detail, and comfort working with partners, residents, and the public in diverse settings. This position reports jointly to the Communications Director and Community Engagement Director, with time divided equally between the two functions. Priorities are set collaboratively by both supervisors.
Choose How You Move, approved by 66% of voters in 2024, is Mayor O'Connell's transportation improvement program and the largest capital program in geographic scope and scale to be undertaken in Nashville's history. Implementation of the $3.1 billion capital program requires extensive collaboration among multiple Metro departments, project managers, and vendors; coordination of $111 million worth of annual operating expenditures; and robust engagement with neighbors. CHYM will transform how people move around the city for decades to follow.
Mayoral staff (non-civil service) receive 15 days of Paid Time Off and 12 sick days annually.
