    Description

     Job Description:

    $95,000–$100,000

    Morristown, Tennessee

    The Opportunity

This is a chance to build and own commodity strategy for resins, TiO, carbon black, and chemical additives across a company's US operations—not just process purchase orders. You'll lead supplier selection, negotiate contracts, and drive total cost of ownership analysis for materials that directly shape production continuity and cost performance.

You'll work cross-functionally with Procurement, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, Sales, Technical Services, and Operations, giving you visibility and influence well beyond a typical buyer role.

    Why You'll Love This Role

You'll manage the full commodity lifecycle: market analysis, supplier audits and performance evaluations, cost reduction workshops, and corrective action processes. This isn't reactive purchasing—you're developing strategies to maximize leverage and protect supply continuity across the plastics and chemicals category.

Relocation is paid, so this opportunity is open to strong candidates outside the immediate area.

    What Your Week Looks Like

    • Managing purchasing requirements across US facilities and maintaining vendor data—specifications, pricing history, performance, and contracts
    • Analyzing market trends, cost drivers, and technology shifts within the resin and chemical additive supply base
    • Running supplier quotation processes, TCO analysis, and contract negotiations
    • Conducting supplier visits and audits to strengthen relationships and performance
    • Partnering with cross-functional teams on supply risk mitigation and material budget forecasting

    What We're Looking For

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or Chemistry
    • 5+ years of procurement experience, ideally within plastics or chemical industries
    • Working knowledge of resins, TiO, carbon black, and chemical additives
    • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents
    • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with familiarity in contract law as it relates to purchasing
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus
    • Willingness to travel for supplier visits and audits

    Ready to Apply?

If you're ready to take ownership of a strategic commodity category with real cross-functional influence, we'd like to hear from you.

Great Bay Staffing represents candidates with complete confidentiality. Your resume will never be shared with a client without your knowledge and approval.
