Our client is seeking an experienced Commissioning Specialist to support third-party owner commissioning across a variety of projects. This role combines onsite and office activities, with a focus on ensuring electrical equipment and facility systems operate safely, meet design requirements, and deliver the performance and efficiency owners expect.
You will lead and perform commissioning activities, including quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), functional performance testing, and equipment and system startup. You will collaborate directly with clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve successful project outcomes.
Lead and execute commissioning activities from planning and document review through startup, testing, and reporting.
Perform QA/QC inspections and functional performance testing for electrical equipment and systems.
Support equipment and system startup to verify compliance with established design requirements and owner expectations.
Review technical documentation, including NETA testing reports, coordination studies, and equipment startup forms.
Develop testing protocols and prepare clear, accurate commissioning reports.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, construction managers, and other stakeholders to identify issues and support resolution.
Support commissioning projects involving utility infrastructure, life safety systems, medium- and low-voltage electrical power systems, low-voltage systems, and facility operations and maintenance.
Travel to project sites throughout the continental United States as needed.
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent years of relevant experience.
At least five years of progressive experience in third-party owner commissioning or validation involving utility infrastructure, life safety, electrical power and low-voltage systems, building systems and components, or facility operations and maintenance.
Working knowledge of NFPA, NETA, and NICET electrical testing and code requirements.
Understanding of construction and commissioning processes.
Ability to review and interpret NETA reports, coordination studies, and equipment startup documentation.
Experience executing functional performance testing for electrical systems.
Strong technical writing skills, including report preparation and testing protocol development.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse project teams.
U.S. citizenship.
Residence within 50 miles of North Charleston, SC.
Ability to travel up to 50%. Travel expenses are reimbursed at actual cost with supporting receipts.
Industry-recognized CxA commissioning certification.
At least two to three years of electrical design experience for building systems.
Experience with industrial production and manufacturing projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
LEED or another sustainability certification.
Basic understanding of related building trades, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Familiarity with cloud-based commissioning software, particularly Facility Grid.
