    Description

Are you experienced in critical infrastructure commissioning and looking for a fast-paced, high-growth environment? As a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer on the Amazon Commissioning team, you will join a creative, efficient group tackling challenging problems as we build and operate Amazon-owned data centers at an accelerating pace. Our fleet is expanding rapidly, and we need skilled engineers who can verify that every power, cooling, and control system in a new facility works correctly before it serves production traffic. You will also get hands-on experience with new data center technologies as the team scales and our designs evolve.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Review design documents and component submittal packages, then lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) to confirm that equipment meets engineering specifications before it reaches the site.
    • Manage third-party commissioning vendors through onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing, auditing activities for compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
    • Provide multi-discipline input into project scheduling, test script development, and commissioning planning while coordinating across engineering, capacity delivery, and operations teams to resolve technical issues quickly.
    • Compile status reports on all active projects and share lessons learned with peers to help improve commissioning processes and program quality over time.
    • Troubleshoot equipment and system-level issues during commissioning, identify root causes, and document corrective actions to make sure problems are fixed and do not come back.

    A day in the life

You will start your morning reviewing the commissioning schedule and aligning priorities with construction and operations partners. Throughout the day you will move between the site and your desk, witnessing tests on electrical switchgear or mechanical systems, checking vendor work against approved test scripts, and flagging issues that need resolution before turnover milestones. When a risk surfaces, you will coordinate with the right stakeholders to keep the project on track. After site activities wrap up, you will update project trackers and share findings so teammates on parallel builds can benefit from what you learned.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
