    Description

    A day in the life at Excell Refrigeration

    You start your morning with a well-stocked service vehicle and a clear slate of commercial calls. First stop: a restaurant walk-in cooler that’s icing up. You diagnose a failed evaporator fan motor, replace it, verify superheat and subcooling, and update the customer on next steps. After lunch, you head to a rooftop to bring a 15–20 ton packaged unit back online, then finish the day descaling a commercial ice machine and documenting work with crisp notes and photos. Throughout, you coordinate with dispatch, keep safety top of mind, and take pride in a job done right.

    What you’ll tackle

    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
    • Service and repair commercial ice machines.
    • Work on compressors, evaporators, condensers, motors, valves, controls, and related components.
    • Identify and resolve issues on commercial HVAC equipment, including packaged units and split systems up to approximately 20 tons.
    • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, heating, and cooling problems.
    • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, leak detection, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging.
    • Assess failures and recommend appropriate repairs or equipment replacement.
    • Complete service calls efficiently and document work with accuracy.
    • Communicate repair needs and equipment status with customers, dispatch, and management.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and properly stocked company service vehicle.
    • Follow company and industry safety procedures at all times.

    What you bring

    • 5+ years of hands-on refrigeration/HVAC experience in commercial environments.
    • Strong commercial refrigeration and HVAC troubleshooting capability.
    • EPA Section 608 Certification.
    • Valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Ability to read wiring diagrams and equipment schematics.
    • Solid electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills.
    • Self-directed, organized, and effective at managing a daily service schedule.
    • Professional, dependable, and customer-focused demeanor.

    Experience that’s a plus

    • Commercial ice machine service.
    • Supermarket or restaurant refrigeration.
    • Heat reclaim systems.
    • Refrigeration/HVAC controls.
    • Commercial preventive maintenance programs.
    • Emergency refrigeration/HVAC service response.

    Physical requirements & working conditions

    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Climb ladders and safely access commercial rooftops and equipment.
    • Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work in confined spaces.
    • Work indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, rain, humidity, coolers, freezers, mechanical rooms, and rooftop settings.
    • Safely use HVAC/R tools, equipment, and required PPE.
    • Flexible schedule that may include overtime, weekends, and on-call rotation based on customer needs.
