Summary of the Position
A Commercial Loan Officer analyzes, structures, underwrites, and services a variety of business and individual loans, both secured and unsecured. They are detail-oriented and provide initial credit screening of new loan opportunities. They collaborate closely with other team members to deliver soundly structured credit solutions to existing and prospective bank clients. They are responsible for structuring and underwriting loan requests as well as guiding the requests through the delivery channel. They internally advocate for credit requests through written and verbal presentations. Each Commercial Loan Officer keeps management informed as to the status of loans in their portfolio by collecting/reviewing required financial information and frequent customer interaction and is responsible for proper risk assessment of all credit requests and loans within their assigned portfolio. They provide financial counsel to current and prospective customers and handle primarily new credit requests and more complex requests for existing clients. They are also accountable for the work product of other underwriting staff who work on relationships within their portfolio on their behalf, including coaching, mentoring, reviewing, and rendering a credit decision thereon. The Commercial Loan Officer must understand and adhere to the banks policies and procedures while recommending and providing solutions which meet the client's needs. They are expected to have knowledge and understanding of, and be compliant with, all Federal and State bank regulations.
