    Commercial Insurance Department Manager

    Hybrid (after 90 days) | Full-Time | Reports to COO

    $115,000 – $175,000 + Bonus


    About the Role

    We are seeking a Commercial Insurance Department Manager to lead, develop, and elevate our Commercial Insurance team.


    This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving team performance, client retention, operational excellence, and revenue growth across a portfolio of commercial business. You’ll serve as both a people leader and technical expert, partnering closely with executive leadership to shape strategy and improve outcomes across the department.

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Commercial Account Managers through coaching, performance management, and career development
    • Set clear priorities, structured workflows, and measurable performance goals
    • Conduct performance reviews and ongoing progress meetings
    • Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and sales-driven culture

    Operations & Workflow Optimization

    • Oversee all servicing, sales support, and account management activities
    • Design and implement workflows that improve efficiency, consistency, and accountability
    • Monitor KPIs including renewals, backlog, invoicing accuracy, and workload distribution
    • Conduct quality assurance audits and ensure adherence to agency procedures and E&O standards

    Client & Carrier Strategy

    • Support complex client needs, renewal strategies, and escalated service issues
    • Partner with producers on account strategy, retention, and growth opportunities
    • Participate in client and prospect presentations
    • Maintain strong relationships with carrier partners and stay current on market trends

    Business Growth & Strategy

    • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive revenue growth and profitability
    • Support account rounding, cross-sell initiatives, and new program development
    • Provide regular reporting and insights on department performance
    • Contribute to strategic planning and organizational initiatives


    Required Qualifications

    • Active Property, Casualty, Life & Health licenses
    • 7+ years of commercial insurance experience (agency or risk management)
    • 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams
    • Strong knowledge of commercial lines coverages, underwriting, and agency operations
    • Experience with agency management systems (AMS); Applied Epic preferred
    • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive results
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to operate strategically in a fast-paced environment


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Experience with Applied Epic
    • Industry designations such as CIC, CPCU, or ARM


    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary: $115,000 – $175,000 + bonus opportunity
