We are seeking a high-caliber HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, service, and maintain complex commercial systems. In this role, you will be the frontline technical expert responding to critical service calls, performing advanced troubleshooting, and ensuring our commercial clients experience minimal operational downtime. The ideal candidate pairs elite, hands-on mechanical expertise with sharp customer-facing communication skills and a commitment to safety.
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and airflow malfunctions in diverse commercial HVAC systems.
Preventative Maintenance: Execute comprehensive preventative maintenance agreements to optimize system efficiency, longevity, and performance for commercial accounts.
Client Liaison: Act as the trusted, professional face of Kelair on-site. Explain technical issues simply to clients, provide accurate repair recommendations, and support back-office coordination. - System Programming & Controls: Interface with, test, and troubleshoot digital controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS), including BACnet protocols.
- Digital Service Logging: Accurately document all work orders, diagnostic findings, parts used, and equipment histories electronically in real-time.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Work Experience: 5+ years of dedicated commercial HVAC service and diagnostic experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep, working knowledge of heavy commercial HVAC systems, including VRF systems, chillers, Rooftop Units (RTUs), cooling towers, and complex commercial air distribution.
- Controls Literacy: Direct experience troubleshooting BACnet and related commercial control networks.
- Software: Experience with BuildOps or similar modern field management software is a strong plus.
- Core Competencies: Elite analytical problem-solving skills, sharp attention to mechanical detail, and strong verbal communication skills when speaking with clients and dispatchers.
Safety & Compliance:
- EPA Certification: Valid EPA Universal Certification required for proper refrigerant handling.
- OSHA Certification: Valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
- SST Certification: Active 40-Hour NYC DOB Site Safety Training (SST) Card required for immediate NYC job site access.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable driving history to operate a company fleet vehicle.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strict compliance with NYC DOB mandates, EPA guidelines, and local mechanical and safety codes.
