About the Role
We’re looking for a Service Manager to lead and grow a commercial HVAC service team. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day service operations, managing field technicians, driving financial performance, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
You’ll work closely with the Business Unit Manager to ensure service delivery, team development, and operational efficiency all align with company goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the financial performance of the service division, including budgets, pricing, and cost tracking
- Monitor and maintain cash flow, resolving discrepancies between estimates and actual costs
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
- Oversee dispatch operations and communication between office and field teams
- Manage and develop service technicians, including roles, responsibilities, and team structure
- Partner with leadership on hiring, performance reviews, compensation, and personnel decisions
- Drive labor productivity and quality standards alongside Field Supervisors
- Estimate service repairs and replacement projects
- Ensure compliance with safety, contracts, insurance, and risk management requirements
- Support quality control across all service work
- Maintain high team morale and retention
- Oversee inventory, tools, and service vehicle readiness
- Lead training and development programs for field staff
- Conduct new hire onboarding and service orientation
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Participate in leadership meetings focused on operations, safety, and performance improvements
- Support implementation of technology and software tools for service operations
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC service or related field
- Experience leading or mentoring technicians
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field
- Strong understanding of the local HVAC market and competitors
Work Environment
- Mix of office and field time (~20% travel)
- Primarily desk-based with regular coordination across teams
