Job DetailsCommercial HVAC Estimator
Location: Seattle, WA
Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Salary: $65,000–$95,000, depending on experience
Position Overview: An established commercial HVAC equipment distributor is adding an experienced Estimator to support continued growth throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The Estimator will review mechanical construction documents, perform HVAC equipment takeoffs, and prepare accurate proposals for mechanical contractors. This position works closely with sales representatives, manufacturers, vendors, and internal support teams to ensure bids are complete, competitive, and submitted on time.
The ideal candidate has commercial HVAC estimating experience, understands mechanical drawings and equipment schedules, and can manage multiple bid deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules, and bid documents
- Perform detailed takeoffs for commercial HVAC equipment and related components
- Identify equipment requirements, quantities, performance criteria, and project scope
- Use manufacturer pricing tools and product data to develop accurate equipment costs
- Prepare clear and complete proposals for mechanical contractors
- Review addenda, revisions, and substitutions that may affect pricing or equipment selection
- Request pricing, lead times, and technical information from manufacturers and vendors
- Maintain organized digital project files, estimates, and supporting documentation
- Track bid deadlines and prioritize multiple estimates at different stages
- Enter and update project, customer, and bid information within Salesforce
- Research upcoming construction projects and potential bidding opportunities
- Coordinate with sales and engineering teams to clarify project requirements
- Communicate professionally with contractors, customers, vendors, and coworkers
- Help improve estimating tools, workflows, and department processes
Qualifications
- Three or more years of HVAC estimating experience
- Experience estimating commercial HVAC equipment or mechanical construction projects
- Ability to interpret mechanical plans, specifications, equipment schedules, and bid documents
- Experience performing digital takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff or similar software
- Familiarity with manufacturer pricing programs and equipment-selection tools
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple bids, priorities, and deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software
- Salesforce or other CRM experience is helpful
- Knowledge of air-distribution and ventilation equipment is a plus
