Penmac Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Estimator for a full-time opportunity with a leading supplier in the Springfield, Missouri area. This role combines construction estimating, technical customer support, and sales support responsibilities. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with customers, reviewing construction documents, preparing estimates, and helping projects move from bid stage through completion.Requirements
- Experience in commercial or residential construction estimating preferred
- Knowledge of the waterworks, utility, or construction industry is helpful
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications
- Experience with estimating software such as STACK, HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, or similar platforms preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Construction field experience is a plus but not required
- Willingness to submit to a criminal background check and drug screening
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Assist with preparing accurate material takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid packages
- Utilize estimating software to develop detailed project proposals
- Review customer emails and respond to requests, pricing inquiries, and sales opportunities
- Provide information regarding products, substitutions, pricing, delivery schedules, warranties, and backorders
- Assist customers with technical questions by phone and email
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to secure competitive pricing
- Prepare spreadsheets for material quantities, project costs, and project timelines
- Support projects from the bidding stage through project completion
- Maintain a professional appearance and customer-focused attitude at all times
- Build strong relationships with customers and vendors while delivering exceptional service
