Estimator Position

This Central Jersey-based commercial General Contractor has been in business for more than 40 years and has built an outstanding reputation throughout the region. Job Description

The Estimator will:

  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, equipment, and time requirements
  • Prepare project estimates by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
  • Resolve discrepancies through detailed cost analysis and information gathering
  • Present completed estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and market trends
  • Perform conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard bid estimates
  • Review plans and specifications for consistency, accuracy, and completeness
  • Manage all levels of quantity takeoffs while applying appropriate unit pricing
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and project cost savings
  • Collaborate with project managers and preconstruction personnel to successfully pursue projects
  • Develop into a leadership role within the estimating and preconstruction department

The Successful Applicant

The Estimator should have:

  • 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably with a Commercial General Contractor
  • Experience bidding commercial construction projects valued at $5 million or greater
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • OSHA certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost estimating principles
  • Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
