Picture a day where you arrive at a customer site, assess an automatic sliding door, diagnose a faulty closer, replace worn hinges, and fine-tune access control—then pivot to a dock repair before lunch. Your mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving mindset will shine as you manage a wide variety of service calls for a growing branch.
What You’ll Tackle
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial doors, docks, and hardware using the right tools and techniques.
- Diagnose and resolve issues such as broken springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components; welding training available if you want to learn.
- Set up and calibrate locks, handles, closers, low-voltage components, and access control systems.
- Deliver work that meets safety and building code requirements and Vortex quality standards.
- Engage customers with clear explanations, answer questions, and propose cost-effective solutions.
- Document service visits, repairs, and installs thoroughly and submit required reports.
- Perform quality checks to ensure long-lasting, safe operation.

What You Bring
- 4–5+ years of experience in the commercial door service industry and AAADM certification.
- Excellent mechanical and technical skills with proficiency using hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of door types, brands, and related hardware.
- Strong communication and customer service skills; able to collaborate under all conditions.
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting ability in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; computer literacy.
- Comfort with measurements and math involving fractions; accurate tape measure use.
- Commitment to safety practices and compliance with protocols.
Physical & Field Requirements
- Lift and move 50+ lbs; frequent bending and kneeling; ladder work up to 20’.
- Operate power tools safely for extended periods.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and customer-focused.
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Full-time within 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday; some overtime and on-call required.
- Continuous training as you progress with Vortex.
- Fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
- Drive a company vehicle; valid driver’s license required.
