    Commercial Electrician

    Location: Jersey City, NJ
    Job Type: Full-Time
    Reports To: Electrical Foreman / Project Manager

    **Must Reside in NJ and have NJ Work Experience**

     

    Position Summary

    We are seeking a skilled Commercial Electrician to install, wire, troubleshoot, and commission electrical systems that support commercial HVAC equipment. This role focuses on both power and control wiring for rooftop units, air handling units, chillers, boilers, pumps, and building automation systems.

    The ideal candidate has strong commercial electrical experience and a solid understanding of HVAC mechanical systems and controls.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Install and wire commercial HVAC equipment including:
      • Rooftop units (RTUs)
      • Air handling units (AHUs)
      • Chillers and boilers
      • Cooling towers and pumps
      • Exhaust fans and make-up air units
    • Run and terminate conduit (EMT, RMC, PVC)
    • Install panels, disconnects, transformers, and breakers
    • Wire line-voltage and low-voltage HVAC control systems
    • Install and connect Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
    • Assist with Building Automation System (BAS) wiring and integration
    • Perform motor connections and troubleshoot starters and contactors
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints
    • Perform startup verification and assist in equipment commissioning
    • Troubleshoot electrical faults and control issues
    • Ensure compliance with NEC and local electrical codes
    • Maintain job site safety and organization

     

    Qualifications

    • 10+ years of commercial electrical experience
    • Experience working with commercial HVAC systems
    • Strong knowledge of motor controls and multi-phase power (208V/480V)
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
    • Familiarity with low-voltage control wiring
    • Journeyman Electrician license (preferred, if applicable)
    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred)
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments

     

    Preferred Experience

    • VFD installation and basic programming
    • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
    • Generator and emergency power systems
    • Commissioning support
    • Design-build commercial projects
