We’re hiring a Commercial Door Systems Field Service Specialist with 3+ years in the door trade to install, troubleshoot, and maintain doors, docks, and access hardware—safely, efficiently, and to code.
What will you do?
- Install and repair a wide range of commercial doors and dock equipment using proper tools and procedures.
- Diagnose issues like failed springs, worn hinges, lock problems, and electrical faults—and fix them right the first time. Welding training available if you’re eager to learn.
- Configure and fine-tune hardware: locks, handles, closers, low-voltage components, and access control.
- Ensure every opening meets building codes and safety standards.
- Explain findings, answer questions, and present cost-effective options with clear communication.
- Document service calls, repairs, installations, and outcomes accurately.
- Perform final quality checks that align with Vortex’s high standards.

Do you have the right background?
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of commercial door service experience; knowledge of major door types and brands.
- Confident with hand/power tools; can read a tape measure and handle fractional math.
- Understands safety protocols; strong mechanical and technical skills.
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders up to 20’, kneeling for extended periods, and operating power tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; effective problem-solver in fast-paced settings; persuasive when appropriate.
- Detail-driven, reliable, self-motivated; comfortable with computers.
- Proficient in: Door Installation.
When and where will you work?
- Full-time within 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday; occasional overtime and on-call.
- Ongoing training throughout your Vortex career.
- Fast-moving, results-focused field role.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle and have a valid driver license.
Pay and tools
$29.00 – $37.50 per hour, based on experience.
Regularly uses: Power Tools and a Service Truck.
