Sanderson Ford is hiring a Commercial Diesel Service Technician for our service operation. This role is built for a technician who knows heavy diesel thoroughly and wants to work across Ford's full commercial lineup: Transit chassis, Class 4–7 diesel-powered vehicles, and everything in between.
This is not a general service position. You'll handle complex diagnostics and repairs on commercial diesel units alongside a team that takes the craft seriously, at a dealership that has been part of this community for decades.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair diesel and gas-powered commercial vehicles using Ford diagnostic systems (IDS, FDRS)
- Review work orders and customer concerns to build accurate repair plans before starting work
- Inspect and test engines, drivetrains, braking systems, suspension, cooling, and electrical components across all vehicle classes
- Follow OEM guidelines and dealership protocols for every repair
- Road-test vehicles after completion to verify work and confirm safety standards
- Process warranty parts and documentation to Ford Motor Company requirements
- Keep up with Ford TSBs, OEM bulletins, and required manufacturer training
- Document labor times, parts usage, and diagnostic findings accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and return customer vehicles in the same condition
What You Bring
- Diesel technician experience required; any OEM background considered, Ford diesel experience preferred
- 2+ years on commercial or fleet vehicles
- Ford Certification strongly preferred
- ASE Certification preferred
- CDL preferred
- Proficiency with Ford diagnostic tools (IDS, FDRS)
- Gas engine and heavy-line repair experience across multiple platforms
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Personal tools appropriate for the position
- Ability to pass a drug screen and work at production pace in a high-volume environment
