Description

Commercial Credit Underwriter
Location: Fresno, CA (Onsite)
Salary: $85,000 – $115,000 DOE

A well-established financial institution serving businesses throughout California's Central Valley is growing its commercial lending team and adding a Commercial Credit Underwriter. Known for its relationship-driven approach and commitment to supporting local businesses, this organization combines the stability of a respected regional lender with the collaboration and accessibility often found in community banking. This role is instrumental in helping the bank make sound credit decisions while supporting continued portfolio growth.

The Opportunity

As a Commercial Credit Underwriter, you'll play a key role in evaluating complex lending opportunities and ensuring credit decisions align with established risk standards. You'll partner closely with Commercial Relationship Managers, Credit Analysts, and lending leadership to assess borrower financial strength, identify risks, and structure lending solutions. This position offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of commercial clients across industries including agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, professional services, and real estate.

What You'll Do

• Analyze commercial loan requests by reviewing financial statements, tax returns, collateral information, and cash flow performance
• Prepare detailed underwriting packages and credit recommendations for commercial lending opportunities
• Evaluate borrower risk profiles and identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential credit concerns
• Partner with Relationship Managers and lending teams to structure transactions that align with bank credit policy
• Maintain documentation and monitor existing credit relationships to support sound portfolio management practices

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of commercial credit underwriting, credit analysis, or commercial banking experience
• Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, risk assessment, and commercial lending principles
• Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel and financial spreading software to analyze borrower performance
• Banking, agricultural lending, commercial real estate, or middle-market lending experience is highly preferred

Why This Role Stands Out

• Join a financially stable institution with a strong reputation throughout the Central Valley banking market
• Gain exposure to a diverse commercial loan portfolio and increasingly complex credit transactions
• Work closely with senior lending executives and participate in meaningful credit decision-making
• Be part of a collaborative team environment that encourages long-term professional growth and advancement
