Commercial Counsel (Contracts)

Elevate is partnering with a privately held, multi-entity operating company in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment to identify an experienced Interim Commercial Counsel.

Our client is seeking a Corporate Commercial Counsel with 2-5 years of experience to join its legal team on a temporary, full-time basis. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with legal and business leadership while supporting a broad range of commercial transactions and legal matters across multiple business functions.

Duration: 3-6 months

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Location: Corona del Mar, CA (100% Onsite)

Rates: $70-$90/hr. on W2 (Commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

The ideal candidate is a practical, business-focused attorney who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and providing strategic legal guidance to help achieve business objectives while managing legal risk. This role will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, as well as supporting a variety of day-to-day legal matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Provide legal support for business operations, vendor relationships, procurement, marketing initiatives, and strategic projects.
• Advise internal stakeholders on commercial, contractual, and operational matters.
• Assist with technology, intellectual property, data privacy, compliance, and other general corporate legal matters.
• Identify legal risks and recommend practical, business-oriented solutions.
• Collaborate with legal leadership and cross-functional teams on complex transactions and strategic initiatives.
• Support contract management processes and legal operations projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2-5 years of legal experience, preferably in commercial contracting, corporate law, or transactional matters.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with business stakeholders.
• Practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal counseling and risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting commercial, technology, consumer products, healthcare, professional services, hospitality, entertainment, or other fast-paced business environments.
• Exposure to intellectual property, data privacy, marketing, licensing, procurement, or compliance matters.
• Experience providing direct legal support to business and operational teams.
• Prior in-house legal experience is a plus.
