Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing projects from structure through completion, with particular expertise in high-end interior finishes, millwork, luxury residential detailing, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Field Operations

  • Manage all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Maintain project schedules and proactively identify potential delays.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor quality, safety, and progress.
  • Ensure adherence to construction documents, specifications, and NYC building regulations.
  • Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and daily site planning activities.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and ownership representatives.

Quality Control & Finish Work

  • Oversee installation of high-end finishes, including:
    • Custom millwork and cabinetry
    • Stone and tile installations
    • Hardwood flooring
    • Decorative metal and glass work
    • Specialty finishes and architectural details
    • Luxury fixtures and hardware
  • Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards throughout the project.
  • Prepare punch lists and manage completion of all corrective work.
  • Ensure finished spaces meet design intent and client expectations.

Scheduling & Planning

  • Develop and maintain short-interval work plans.
  • Coordinate inspections and permit requirements.
  • Sequence trades efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize rework.
  • Manage material deliveries and onsite logistics in dense urban environments.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with all NYC DOB regulations and site-specific safety plans.

Profile

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of construction superintendent experience.
  • Experience managing projects in New York City.
  • Demonstrated expertise in luxury residential, hospitality, or high-end commercial interiors.
  • Strong finish-work background with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades in occupied and urban environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing and scheduling.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software.

Preferred

  • Experience working for a developer-builder or boutique general contractor.
  • Ground-up construction and major renovation experience.
  • Knowledge of Procore, Buildertrend, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • NYC Site Safety credentials.
  • Local relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
