Commercial Construction Senior Superintendent - Advanced Manufacturing

Job Description:

The Senior Superintendent provides overall field leadership for advanced manufacturing projects throughout the Bay Area. This individual directs all on-site construction activities while ensuring the project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with HITT's quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience delivering cleanrooms, laboratories, semiconductor facilities, or other technically complex manufacturing environments. The Senior Superintendent serves as the primary field leader and coordinates closely with project management, clients, design teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and commissioning personnel throughout the project.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all on-site construction activities in accordance with HITT's safety, quality, and operational standards
  • Manage field operations for cleanroom, laboratory, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing projects
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, site logistics plans, sequencing strategies, and short-term look-ahead schedules
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, equipment, and manpower to maintain project milestones
  • Partner with the Project Manager to develop the overall project plan and resolve schedule, scope, and constructability concerns
  • Oversee complex MEP systems, process utilities, controls, life-safety systems, specialty equipment, and system integration
  • Manage clean-build protocols, contamination-control procedures, environmental requirements, and specialized installation standards
  • Coordinate utility shutdowns, tie-ins, phased construction, and work within active laboratory or manufacturing environments
  • Support equipment installation, startup, testing, commissioning, validation, and facility turnover
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings, subcontractor meetings, and safety planning sessions
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, progress, inspections, deliveries, constraints, and site conditions
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and coordination documents to identify potential conflicts
  • Monitor workmanship and enforce project-specific quality-control requirements
  • Coordinate required inspections with local authorities, consultants, clients, and third-party testing agencies
  • Lead the punch-list, commissioning, closeout, and owner-acceptance processes
  • Provide leadership and direction to Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, field staff, and subcontractors
  • Mentor and develop field team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, design professionals, trade partners, and local authorities
  • Identify and resolve field issues before they affect project safety, quality, cost, or schedule
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Additional relevant construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience, including significant field-leadership experience with a general contractor
  • 5+ years of experience serving as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent
  • Demonstrated experience delivering cleanrooms, laboratories, semiconductor facilities, or advanced manufacturing projects is required
  • Strong knowledge of technically complex MEP systems, process piping, controls, specialty equipment, commissioning, and facility turnover
  • Experience working in active manufacturing, laboratory, or occupied technical environments
  • Knowledge of clean-build procedures, contamination control, shutdown planning, and utility tie-ins
  • Proven ability to lead large project teams and coordinate multiple subcontractors and work activities
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, building codes, safety requirements, and quality-control procedures
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, scheduling platforms, and related construction-management systems
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, solve complex field issues, and maintain demandin
