Job Overview

A well-established and growing commercial general contractor in the Chicago area is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction, with experience managing projects from preconstruction through completion. Projects may include ground-up commercial construction, industrial, healthcare, retail, institutional, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

We're looking for someone who is organized, motivated, and knows what it takes to successfully manage commercial construction projects while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

• Oversee project budgets, schedules, contracts, and overall project performance.

• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.

• Manage subcontractor buyout, procurement, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.

• Monitor construction progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

• Identify potential challenges and implement effective solutions.

• Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

• Ensure quality standards and jobsite safety requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Project Manager with a commercial general contractor.

• Strong background in commercial building construction.

• Ground-up construction experience preferred.

• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and contracts.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with project teams.

• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software preferred.

• Experience with industrial, manufacturing, food processing, or distribution projects is a plus.

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent construction experience.
