Commercial Construction Project Manager - Corporate Interiors

Job Description:

HITT Contracting is seeking an experienced Project Manager specializing in high end corporate interiors and tenant improvement to lead sophisticated commercial interior projects from preconstruction through closeout.

The ideal candidate has experience delivering $3 million to $10 million projects and the leadership and organizational skills to manage a portfolio of concurrent projects. Depending on project size, complexity, and phase, this may include up to five active projects at a time.

As the primary project leader, the Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to HITT’s standards for quality. This individual serves as a key liaison between clients, design teams, subcontractors, superintendents, and internal HITT teams.

HITT encourages Project Managers to think and operate like business owners. We value individuals who take initiative, own results, understand project financials, build strong client relationships, and identify opportunities for continued growth.

This entrepreneurial approach is reflected in HITT’s compensation philosophy. Strong performance can result in significant bonus opportunities beyond base compensation, rewarding employees who demonstrate ownership, initiative, exceptional execution, and strong financial performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead high end corporate interiors and tenant improvement projects typically ranging from $3 million to $10 million

• Manage a portfolio of concurrent projects, potentially up to five depending on size and complexity

• Serve as the primary project leader and client point of contact from preconstruction through closeout

• Develop, forecast, and manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, and financial performance

• Lead preconstruction efforts, including budgeting, constructability, scheduling, procurement strategy, and RFP development

• Manage project controls including RFIs, submittals, change management, pay applications, and subcontractor change orders

• Partner closely with superintendents and field teams to maintain safety, quality, schedule, and project logistics

• Lead owner, architect, consultant, and subcontractor meetings and provide clear project reporting

• Proactively identify and resolve risks that could affect cost, schedule, quality, or client satisfaction

• Manage project turnover, punch list, commissioning, and closeout

• Lead, mentor, and develop Assistant Project Managers and other project team members

• Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business and future partnerships

• Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset by taking ownership of project outcomes and financial performance

Qualifications

5+ years of commercial construction experience, including experience with a commercial general contractor

• Demonstrated Project Manager experience in corporate interiors, commercial interiors, and tenant improvement construction

• Proven ability to independently manage projects in the $3 million to $10 million range

• Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

• Experience with high end, design intensive corporate environments strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of interior construction, architectural finishes, MEP coordination, procurement, scheduling, and subcontractor management

• Strong understanding of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, change management, and cost control

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Adobe, JD Edwards, and similar construction technology

• Four year degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, or a related discipline preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

What Success Looks Like

A successful Project Manager at HITT is equally comfortable managing the details, leading the client relationship, and owning the business of the project. This individual can manage multiple sophisticated interior projects while maintaining exceptional standards for quality, responsiveness, schedule, and financial performance.

HITT is looking for Project Managers who want to take ownership rather than simply manage a process. Those who deliver strong results, grow client relationships, and approach their work with an entrepreneurial mindset have the opportunity to be recognized and rewarded through performance driven bonus opportunities and long term career growth.
