Commercial Ammunition Sales Manager
Remote
About the Company
A growing ammunition manufacturer is hiring a sales professional to own and grow its commercial-volume ammunition business. The company started out making components for OEM ammunition makers and competitive shooters, launched its own ammunition brand, and has since expanded into firearms and accessories.
The Role
This is a remote position. You’ll own the full sales cycle for commercial-volume ammunition orders, from first call to repeat contract. The role pays a base salary plus commission.
What You’ll Do
- Prospect, qualify, and close new B2B accounts buying 9mm, 5.56, and 7.62 by the case, pallet, and truckload
- Negotiate volume pricing, blanket purchase orders, annual supply agreements, and delivery schedules
- Manage and grow existing OEM component and ammunition accounts
- Respond to bids and RFQs from ranges, training academies, distributors, and agencies
- Work with production to align quotes with capacity, lead times, and lot availability
- Sell the reduced-lead-exposure advantage: lower airborne lead, less fouling, and easier range compliance
- Represent the company at SHOT Show, NSSF events, regional trade shows, and USPSA, IDPA, and 3-Gun matches
- Keep the CRM current and report weekly on pipeline, forecast, and margin
- Make sure every sale follows federal, state, and local rules on ammunition transfer, shipping, and recordkeeping
What You Bring
- 5+ years of B2B sales in ammunition, firearms, components, or a closely related outdoor or defense industry
- A track record of closing case- and pallet-volume orders, with numbers you can show
- An existing network of range owners, distributors, dealers, or OEM buyers
- Working knowledge of 9mm, 5.56, and 7.62 product types, bullet weights, and common use cases
- Understanding of the rules that govern selling and shipping ammunition, including carrier hazmat (ORM-D / limited quantity) requirements and state-by-state restrictions
- Strong negotiation, quoting, and contract skills
- Comfort with a CRM and basic margin math
- Must be 21 or older
Nice to Have
- Military, law enforcement, or competitive shooting background (USPSA, IDPA, 3-Gun, PRS)
- Experience with government procurement, GSA schedules, or agency bid portals
- Knowledge of lead-exposure and range-safety standards (OSHA lead rules, NIOSH guidance)
- Experience selling a challenger brand against established names
- Existing relationships with major distributors or buying groups
- Familiarity with reloading and component supply to OEMs
