When a facility manager calls at 8:00 AM with a jammed overhead door, you’re the pro who arrives, diagnoses the issue, communicates options, and gets operations back online. You install, repair, and maintain a wide range of commercial and industrial door systems while upholding safety, building codes, and the highest quality standards.
What you’ll do
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial doors, docks, and related hardware with proper tools and techniques.
- Identify and service springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components—eager to learn welding? We can train you.
- Install and configure locks, handles, closers, low-voltage integrations, and access control systems.
- Ensure every project meets code and safety requirements.
- Deliver superb customer service: explain repairs, answer questions, and propose cost-effective solutions.
- Keep accurate records of visits, repairs, and installations; perform rigorous quality checks.

What you’ll bring
- Excellent mechanical and technical skills; clear communicator and collaborator.
- Hiring Bonus! Up to $3,000 with commercial or industrial doors experience required.
- Capable of moving 50+ lbs.; able to lift/bend repeatedly, climb ladders up to 20’, work on knees for extended periods, and operate power tools confidently.
- Customer-focused mindset—problem solver who conveys information quickly and can be persuasive when appropriate.
- Detail-oriented, quality-committed, reliable, and self-motivated.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years’ commercial door service experience; AAADM certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of diverse door types, brands, and hardware; strong with hand and power tools.
- Math proficiency with fractions and precise tape-measure reading for accurate installs.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Computer literacy.
Work rhythm
- Full-time shifts are available between Vortex business hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday and must be able to work some overtime and on-call hours.
- Continuous on-going training provided as you continue to grow with Vortex.
- The job environment is fast paced and results oriented.
- Be able to drive a company vehicle and possess a valid driver license.
