Description

Position Summary

Across industries, commerce has become one of the most important channels for growth, customer engagement, and margin performance - not simply a transactional endpoint, but a strategic lever that shapes how customers experience a brand and how a business competes. Where organizations are rethinking the role commerce should play in their broader channel mix and how they acquire, convert, and retain customers as a result, they look to Deloitte's Commerce practice.

Our team helps clients define the role of commerce as a channel within their broader growth strategy, build the value narrative and business case for where to invest, and shape the experiences, capabilities, and operating model needed to deliver on that strategy. We bring together strategic rigor, design depth, commercial judgment, and implementation expertise to help clients translate ambition into measurable business outcomes.

The Commerce Strategy Senior Manager is a client-facing consulting leader responsible for balancing oversight and expert guidance across multiple high-impact commerce strategy engagements while driving pipeline and business development activities for clients across industries. This role combines deep commerce strategy expertise with consulting leadership and the credibility to serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, connecting commerce decisions to the broader commercial strategy - including customer experience, pricing, and growth strategy - and shaping the value narrative that guides how organizations prioritize and invest in commerce as a channel.

Work You'll Do

Commerce organizations are operating in a fast-changing environment shaped by shifting consumer behavior, channel fragmentation, rising customer expectations, and pressure to deliver profitable growth. Many companies are investing in commerce, but too few have a clear strategy for the role commerce should play as a channel - where to play, how to win, how commerce decisions should shape pricing, customer experience, and growth strategy, and how to prioritize the use cases that matter most.

We are looking for practitioners who can work alongside client leadership teams to define the strategic role of commerce as a channel, build the value narrative and business case for where to invest, prioritize commerce use cases, and drive the implications of that positioning across pricing, customer experience, and growth strategy - creating measurable impact that carries through into how commerce gets implemented.

As a Commerce Strategy Senior Manager, you will:

  • Provide oversight and expert guidance across multiple concurrent commerce strategy engagements across industries, including channel strategy and role definition, commerce operating model design, experience optimization, and the value narrative and business case behind where to invest
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, leading executive readouts and decision-ready recommendations on commerce's role as a growth channel with credibility and authority
  • Drive the implications of commerce strategy and channel positioning into other parts of the commercial strategy agenda - including customer experience, pricing, and growth strategy - guiding how clients prioritize commerce use cases based on business value and strategic fit
  • Drive pipeline and business development activities, including leading proposal responses, shaping client solutions, and supporting business development across the practice
  • Contribute to and lead thought leadership efforts that build the practice's reputation and market presence in commerce strategy
  • Confidently lead teams to strong outcomes while managing scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and client needs across engagements
  • Maintain a strategic, value-oriented perspective on commerce technology and platform capabilities sufficient to guide broader commerce transformation engagements, without owning day-to-day technical delivery
  • Use advanced analytics and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, insight generation, and work quality
  • Lead, coach, and develop teams while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture and modeling Deloitte leadership behaviors

A Successful Candidate Would Possess These Skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product
  • Ability to build and sustain professional relationships
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and lead complex, multi-stakeholder engagements
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and translate business needs into analytical or technology-enabled solutions
  • Ability to lead multiple projects or workstreams concurrently
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to proactively identify and address potential challenges to effective delivery of work products before they happen
  • Ability to mentor and provide clear guidance to others
  • Strong executive presence, stakeholder management, and written and oral communication skills, with the credibility to engage senior client leaders

Qualifications

Required

  • 12+ years of experience with a demonstrated history of consulting delivery in commerce strategy, digital commerce, customer experience, technology-enabled transformation, or related areas
  • 8+ years of experience working directly with business, digital, technology, or commerce client teams
  • 5+ years of experience selling and delivering, including supporting pursuits, leading proposal responses, shaping client solutions, and owning delivery outcomes
  • 4+ years of experience leading and overseeing multiple engagements or teams concurrently
  • 5+ years of experience shaping commerce strategies and translating them into actionable roadmaps, operating models, or implementation plans
  • 1+ years of experience incorporating AI into daily workflow and leveraging AI tools to enable and optimize the client experience
  • Ability to travel up to 30%+ on average, based on the work you do and the clients you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of digital commerce platforms and capabilities sufficient to guide strategy and prioritization decisions across engagements, without owning hands-on implementation
  • Experience connecting commerce strategy to adjacent areas of commercial strategy, such as customer experience, pricing, or growth strategy, and guiding clients toward prioritized recommendations at the executive level
  • Demonstrated track record of generating pipeline and converting opportunities into sold work
  • Experience leading thought leadership, eminence building, and proposal development
  • Experience growing and developing teams in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment, especially practitioners with 2-4 years of experience
