JOB OVERVIEW
GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs inspections of residential and commercial construction projects to ensure compliance with adopted codes, including electrical, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and energy conservation standards. With regular attendance, this position interprets and enforces the provisions of the National Electrical Code, International Residential Code, and International Building, Mechanical, and Plumbing Codes through plan reviews and field inspections to verify that new and improved construction meets County adopted codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk/move about, stand/remain erect, maneuver about in construction sites, operate/manipulate equipment (e.g. use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls), ascending/descending and positioning self (e.g. climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, crouching, and reaching). The employee is occasionally required to sit/remain stationary. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing, smell, and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close and color vision as well as the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk (i.e. verbal exchange / exchange information) and hear (i.e. exchange information accurately) within normal ranges.
Work is performed regularly in outside weather conditions during day-shift hours, however hours may occasionally include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The employee is frequently exposed to inclement weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. Work may be fast-paced when dealing with multiple priorities, and/or time constraints. Noise levels typically range from quiet to moderate.
