    Job Summary and Responsibilities

    As our Colorectal (Colon and Rectal) Surgeon you will join our premier surgical team at CommonSpirit Memorial in Chattanooga, TN.     Every day you will diagnose and treat diseases of the small intestine, colon, rectum, and anal canal. You will be an expert in performing both complex open surgeries and minimally invasive procedures (laparoscopy and robotic-assisted surgery) to treat conditions such as colorectal cancer, IBD, and diverticulitis.

    To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled, board certified, and compassionate Physician, possessing expertise in diagnosing and managing complex colorectal patients, alongside strong communication abilities. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care and the capacity to thrive within a supportive clinic environment. In your role, you will:

    • Conduct physical examinations and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, CT scans) to evaluate lower gastrointestinal symptoms.
    • Develop tailored treatment plans, which may include diet modifications, medication, or surgical intervention.
    • Perform complex procedures including colectomies (removal of the colon), bowel obstruction repairs, and hemorrhoidectomies.
    • Manage patient recovery, provide follow up consultations, and monitor for complications.
    • Perform Supervisory activities related to Physician collaboration with assigned APP(s).
    • Work closely with oncologists, gastroenterologists, and radiologists to provide comprehensive care for severe conditions like cancer

    Job Requirements

    Required

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
    • Completion of a one year colorectal surgery residency/fellowship
    • Completion of a general surgery training program
    • Board certified or Board eligible in Colon and Rectal Surgery
    • Basic Life Support - CPR
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
    • Ability to obtain an active medical license & DEA in the state of Tennessee

    $631,113 - $1,560,520 /year
