Position Summary

The College Store Associate is more than a retail team member. They are a vital part of the Ogden Weber Technical College community, helping create a welcoming, student-focused environment where service, learning, and integrity come first. This position is responsible for assisting customers with their needs, maintaining store needs, and upkeeping social media sites for the store. Working closely with instructional programs, the College Store Associate ensures proper levels of inventory are on hand to meet student needs and support their educational success. Through meaningful customer interactions, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence, this role helps connect students with the resources they need while fostering a positive and engaging campus experience.

This position operates under the direct supervision of the College Store Manager.

Essential Functions

  1. Conduct all functions of cashiering and assist customers with their needs.

  2. Assist with the catering needs from the store. This includes delivery and pickup of equipment and tracking the quantity of items used.

  3. Responsible for restocking of product within the store.

  4. Collaborate with instructional programs to determine necessary student needs for books and supplies in relation to on-hand inventory levels.

  5. Maintains the student financial aid function in the point-of-sale system for students and interdepartmental purchases.

  6. Upkeeping the social media sites for the College Store.

  7. Assist with all receiving duties such as deliveries to the programs/departments, check-in deliveries, and shipping items out.

  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and one year of cash handling and customer service experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat DC, specifically how to combine and edit files.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and dress.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional discretion regarding sensitive and proprietary information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Climbing: Includes ladders, stepping stools, ramps, etc.
  • Stooping: Bending downward and forward at the waist. Requires full use of lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Resting on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending downward and forward at the leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand (s) and arm (s) in any direction.
  • Standing: For extended time periods.
  • Pushing: Using upper body to press against something with steady force.
  • Pulling: Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects.
  • Lifting: Occurs frequently and requires substantial use of upper body and back muscles.
  • Finger Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Grasping: Using fingers and palm on an object.
  • Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
  • Physical Strength: Medium Work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly.

HOURS:

Monday - Thursday: 1pm - 7pm

Friday: 12 pm - 4pm
