Job Description ---------------

The African American Studies Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a Credentialed Course Instructor to teach AAS 420 - Public Health and Medical Issues in African American Communities for the second 7th Week term beginning March 1, 2026, and ending May 1, 2026.

Course Description -----------------

AAS 420. Public Health and Medical Issues in African Communities introduces students to the important health issues facing the African American community. The goals are to increase awareness and stimulate discussion about the health problems facing African Americans, the factors believed to cause, contribute to, or worsen these problems, and the steps now being taken to alleviate or eliminate them.

Required Qualifications ----------------------

  • PhD or MA in African American Studies or related field
  • 18 graduate credit hours as required by SACS

Preferred Qualifications ----------------------

  • PhD or MA in African American Studies or related field
  • 18 graduate credit hours as required by SACS
