LHH Recruitment Solutions is searching for a part-time(25 hours per week)Collections Specialist for a contract opportunity in Chesapeake, Virginia.

JOB SUMMARY

The Collections Specialist is responsible for tracking and collecting past due customer accounts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE

  • Working knowledge of Fair Credit Reform Act

  • General knowledge and understanding of Bankruptcy Law: Chapters 7, 11 and 13

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral, to include active listening

  • Ability to operate independently and follow up with customers on a timely basis

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to handle difficult customers and situations

  • Strong negotiation skills

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Two years minimum experience handling collections of past due customer accounts

  • Knowledge of billing processes

  • High school diploma or equivalent

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE

  • This position is not responsible for the direct supervision of any employees.

JOB DUTIES

  • Review collection reports to ascertain status of collection and outstanding balances

  • Research and assess past due accounts to determine where liabilities fall

  • Call customers to initiate collection process

  • Draft and send follow up letters and/or emails regarding past due accounts

  • Audit delinquent accounts considered to be un-collectable; ensuring maximum efforts have been taken before assigning a customer account to a collection attorney

  • Ability to problem solve customer issues

  • Other duties as assigned

$20.00 per hour
