LHH Recruitment Solutions is searching for a part-time(25 hours per week)Collections Specialist for a contract opportunity in Chesapeake, Virginia.
JOB SUMMARY
The Collections Specialist is responsible for tracking and collecting past due customer accounts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of Fair Credit Reform Act
General knowledge and understanding of Bankruptcy Law: Chapters 7, 11 and 13
Proficient knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills, including written and oral, to include active listening
Ability to operate independently and follow up with customers on a timely basis
Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to handle difficult customers and situations
Strong negotiation skills
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Two years minimum experience handling collections of past due customer accounts
Knowledge of billing processes
High school diploma or equivalent
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE
JOB DUTIES
Review collection reports to ascertain status of collection and outstanding balances
Research and assess past due accounts to determine where liabilities fall
Call customers to initiate collection process
Draft and send follow up letters and/or emails regarding past due accounts
Audit delinquent accounts considered to be un-collectable; ensuring maximum efforts have been taken before assigning a customer account to a collection attorney
Ability to problem solve customer issues
Other duties as assigned
$20.00 per hour
