Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first. Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.  Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Requirements: Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.

Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Hours:5:20am – 3:20pm

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary:

  • Engaged inassistingwith theselectionof birds at six weeks of age based on conformation, physical attributes and family data provided by the computer and movement of birds within the complex. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assistwith the selection of approximately 2700 pedigree birds daily byidentifyinggender, catching, scanning wing band number, and audit market birds for wing bands(35%)

  • Assistwith properlyidentifyingthe coop birds are assigned to (30%)

  • Washing/sanitizing approximately 100 coops daily via commercial pressure washer on wet, slick floors,maintainclean foot pans in assigned boot room,weekly sanitation ofselection breakroom andall equipment used during selectionprocess (15%)

  • Assist in set-up for selection byloading empty coops into house,placing catch frames in pens for easier bird access,hanging of lights for better visual, set up of scales and scanner, making coop labels, placing coops in pens and running needed cords(10%)

Other duties, responsibilities, and activities: 

  • These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as:Assist with moving birds from brood house to feed conversion or dissection and wash/disinfect vehicles; properly euthanize weak/ill birdsin accordance withcompany policy(10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare:

  • Thejobsiteis abiosecureenvironment whichrequires showering,changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwearisprovided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered byappropriate clothing.Must be willing to sign an agreement toavoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Physical:  Mustuse safe lifting techniques. Mustregularlylift and/or move, using two Team Members, up to50 poundsto move items such as bird coops; tools, such as angle iron dolly, may be required tooccasionallylift and/or move up to300 poundssuch as stacks of bird coops. While performing the duties of this job, the employee isregularlyrequired to stand majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (i.e. concrete floor, shavings); walk; sit;use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.Must havegood communicationskills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.

  • Tools and Equipment: Scale, Tablet, Scanner, Pressure Washer

  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfacesand alsowork in hot, dry, extreme dusty,wetand cold environments

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safetygoggles,safety glasses,face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs will be used as needed.  NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.  

  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Disinfectantssuch as Synergize,Virocid,Simple Green, Lysol, etc.

  • Safety:TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify,addressand mitigate safety related risks.
