Coatings Laboratory Technician

The role involves preparing cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings from chemical ingredients and testing the performance characteristics of coated substrates using established procedures. The Technician uses computer systems to enter data and create charts and tables for communication of project results and details.

Laboratory TechnicianRequired Education • Bachelor's Degree in a technical fieldRequired Qualifications/Skills/Experience • 2–3 years of demonstrated laboratory experience • Hands-on laboratory experience • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and perform lab testing • Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols for preservation of data • Ability to follow safe laboratory practices and protocols • Basic data summarization skills • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Ability to stand while working in the laboratory throughout most of the dayLaboratory Technician Overview • Under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, the Laboratory Technician performs routine laboratory testing and data generation using standard test methods. The Technician supports Application Engineers by generating data and performing established laboratory experiments. Responsibilities include testing coatings, evaluating and recording data, and summarizing and reporting results in a laboratory notebook. The Technician uses computer systems to enter data and create charts and tables for communication of project results and details.
