SUMMARY
The function of a coach is to educate students through participation in an interscholastic competition. An interscholastic program should be designed to enhance academic achievement and should actively promote opportunities for academic success. Each student should be treated with the utmost respect, and his or her welfare should be considered in decisions by the coach at all times. Coaches have tremendous influence over students and as such shall instill the highest levels of ethical and moral character in their athletes. Coaches are expected to uphold the honor and dignity of the profession. Strong ethics and integrity will be evident in all interactions with students, officials, athletic directors, school administrators, state athletic officials, and members of the media or public.
