The assistant coach will work collaboratively with the head coach to provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate athletic experience that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, leadership, and personal growth.\n \nOUR DISTRICT\n \nThe Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,200 students enrolled K-12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.\n \nOUR COMMUNITY\n \nLocated northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Contact Human Resources, 360-793-9800, 514 4th Street, Sultan, WA 98294\n \nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITITES\n \nThe Assistant Coach helps foster teamwork, sportsmanship, skill development, and personal growth while promoting a safe and inclusive environment that aligns with the school's academic and athletic goals.\n \nEssential Responsibilities\n\n Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, games, and team activities.\n Teach and demonstrate volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship.\n Support the development of student-athletes' skills, confidence, teamwork, and character.\n Assist with supervision of student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team travel.\n Promote a positive and respectful team culture.\n Ensure compliance with district, league, and WIAA regulations and expectations.\n Communicate effectively with players, coaches, parents, and school staff.\n Assist with equipment management, uniform distribution, and program organization.\n Model professionalism, integrity, and appropriate conduct at all times.\n \nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\n High school diploma or equivalent.\n Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, rules, and coaching techniques.\n Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred.\n Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and families.\n Current first aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain before the season begins.\n Successful completion of district hiring requirements, including a background check.\n \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\n Previous playing and/or coaching experience in volleyball.\n Experience working in a school or youth athletics setting.\n Experience promoting positive character and leadership development in youth athletics.\n \nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\n\n Strong communication and interpersonal skills.\n Ability to motivate and encourage student-athletes.\n Commitment to sportsmanship, student development, and safety.\n Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff and school personnel.\n \nPHYSICAL RQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT\n\n Ability to demonstrate volleyball skills and techniques.\n Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively participate during practices and games.\n Ability to lift, carry, and move athletic equipment.\n Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.\n \nWork is typically performed indoors; requires substantial extra-hours work, travel between sites, stamina and endurance, and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.\n \nEVALUATION\n \nThe Assistant Coach shall be evaluated within 20 days of the close of the sports season by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee's performance of the above essential job functions.\n \nCONDITIONS\n \nEMPLOYEES ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION.
