The assistant coach will work collaboratively with the head coach to provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate athletic experience that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, leadership, and personal growth.\n \nOUR DISTRICT\n \nThe Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,200 students enrolled K-12. Students are currently served by two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and an alternative high school; and the Sno-Isle Skills Center, a cooperative vocational technical school.\n \nOUR COMMUNITY\n \nLocated northeast of Seattle (seven miles east of Monroe) or about 20 minutes from the Woodinville area, Sultan is surrounded by a beautiful environmental setting. Contact Human Resources, 360-793-9800, 514 4th Street, Sultan, WA 98294\n \nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITITES\n \nThe successful candidate will help foster a positive team culture while supporting student-athletes in developing their technical skills, confidence, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.\n\n Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices and games.\n Teach fundamental soccer skills, strategies, and sportsmanship.\n Promote teamwork, respect, accountability, and positive character development.\n Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, team travel, and related activities.\n Assist with player evaluation and skill development.\n Monitor student-athlete safety and well-being during all team activities.\n Help maintain equipment, uniforms, and athletic facilities.\n Ensure compliance with district, league, and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) policies and regulations, as applicable.\n Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, coaches, and school staff.\n Support the Head Coach in fostering an inclusive and positive team environment.\n Attend required coaches' meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.\n \nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\n\n High school diploma or equivalent.\n Demonstrated knowledge of soccer fundamentals, rules, and coaching techniques.\n Experience working with middle school-aged students or youth athletic programs.\n Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.\n Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff and school personnel.\n Current first aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain certification prior to the season.\n Successful completion of required background checks.\n \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\n Previous coaching experience in soccer or other team sports.\n Experience playing soccer at the high school, collegiate, or club level.\n Knowledge of adolescent development and age-appropriate coaching practices.\n Completion of coaching education and training programs.\n Experience promoting positive character and leadership development in youth athletics.\n \nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\n\n Understanding of soccer fundamentals and game strategy.\n Ability to motivate and mentor student athletes.\n Strong interpersonal and communication skills.\n Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.\n Commitment to sportsmanship, safety, and student success.\n Ability to maintain professionalism and serve as a positive role model.\n \nPHYSICAL RQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT\n\n Ability to demonstrate soccer skills and techniques.\n Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively participate during practices and games.\n Ability to lift, carry, and move athletic equipment.\n* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.\n \nWork is typically performed outdoors; requires substantial extra-hours work, travel between sites, stamina and endurance, and physical exertion associated with demonstrating techniques; must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather; may be required to balance, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels and childhood diseases; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.\n \nEVALUATION\n \nThe Assistant Coach shall be evaluated within 20 days of the close of the sports season by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee's performance of the above essential job functions.\n \nCONDITIONS\n \nEMPLOYEES ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION.
