    Job Description 

    The Graph Technology Team, a specialized group within Asset Management Technology's Quant Development unit, is seeking a highly motivated Machine Learning Researcher for a co-op position. Our team is at the forefront of applying graph machine learning and specifically Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to revolutionize investment research and model complex financial systems. We are looking for a current PhD or graduate student who is passionate about pushing the boundaries of these advanced techniques in a real-world setting. This role offers a unique opportunity to conduct applied research, moving from theoretical concepts to tangible solutions that directly impact investment strategies. You will collaborate with quants and portfolio managers to prototype, build, and deliver novel solutions using the power of graph-based AI. 

    This role is based in our Boston, MA office. 

    THE EXPERTISE AND SKILLS YOU BRING 

    • Currently pursuing an advanced degree (PhD or Master's) in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computational Statistics, Operations Research, or Machine Learning. PhD candidates are strongly preferred due to the research-focused nature of this role. 

    • Demonstrated experience with machine learning concepts through academic coursework, research, or significant personal projects. 

    • A strong interest and foundational knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Knowledge Graphs, Graph Learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), or Information Retrieval. 

    • Familiarity with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Deep Learning concepts. 

    • Proficiency in developing and evaluating both supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms. 

    • An interest in the fine-tuning, performance evaluation, and operationalization of machine learning models. 

    • Strong programming skills in Python and a solid understanding of SQL. 

    • The ability to articulate complex technical ideas to diverse audiences. 

    • A genuine passion for staying at the forefront of AI and machine learning advancements and a drive to innovate.

    The Quant Technology team operates at the frontier of Fidelity Technology, delivering scalable, innovative, and industry-leading investment tools that empower Asset Management to achieve a global advantage. Our work on this groundbreaking initiative directly contributes to Asset Management's goals for investment performance, scale, and efficiency. As a co-op, you will be an integral part of this mission. 

     

     

    The base salary range for this position is $39 - $70 per hour.

    Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
