How you''ll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
Delta is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Undergraduate Co-op to support Corporate Safety Strategy & Innovation initiatives across General Office facilities. This role offers hands-on experience in workplace safety, fire and life safety, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, and safety program administration while working alongside experienced safety professionals. The ideal candidate is passionate about safety, enjoys solving problems, is proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and is eager to develop as a future Safety Professional.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Support
- Assist with the coordination and administration of Corporate Safety programs and initiatives.
- Help identify workplace hazards and support corrective action tracking.
Fire & Life Safety Support
- Assist with Fire and Life Safety audits and inspections.
Emergency Preparedness
- Support the planning and coordination of fire drills and evacuation exercises.
- Assist with communications, scheduling, and post-drill documentation.
- Participate in emergency preparedness projects and awareness campaigns.
Safety Documentation & Communication
- Support updates and document management for safety policies, procedures, and guidance materials.
- Assist with developing presentations, reports, dashboards, and employee communications.
Special Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in safety improvement initiatives and innovation projects.
- Support research, benchmarking, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform additional duties and project work as assigned.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution
- At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
- Must be available to work on a full-time basis for 3 alternating semesters: Spring 2027, Fall 2027, and Summer 2028
- This position requires student to work for 3 alternating semesters. Student cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op/Intern at the same time, which may delay graduation by 1-2 semesters
- Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the Co-op
- Strong interest in workplace safety, risk management, emergency preparedness, or corporate safety programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage records, data, and documentation accurately
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and develop professionally
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications and reporting tools
- Working as a Co-op/Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation. This position is intended to provide educational and professional work experience to prepare the student for the workforce
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- Preferred majors in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
- Previous internship, co-op, leadership, volunteer, or project experience
- Experience creating reports, presentations, dashboards, or other business communications
- Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement
- Interest in safety innovation, data analysis, ergonomics, and corporate safety strategy
- Collaborative mindset and ability to contribute positively to team objectives.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Passion for developing a career in Safety, Risk Management, or Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
